Hello, everyone ! I’m Sara Horiguchi, studying abroad in New Zealand for one term. Today, I will introduce about Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza. This event is for a lot of people to wear each traditional clothes, and communicate the culture of the country to people from another country. I joined this event, and I wore Japanese traditional clothes, Yukata. To wear Yukata was difficult for me, but I practiced it the day before, so I could wear it smoothly.

After the parade, I went to the venue for the festival. There were a lot of each country traditional food. I ate Vietnam food and Samoa food.  It was the first for me to eat them, and it was very good ! The taste was my favorite and I wanted to eat them again.

Also, I could see dances from various countries. It was very unique and interesting. For example, Hawaiian dance, Samoa dance and Japanese drum. When I watched the Japanese drum, I remembered Japan, and I missed Japan very much. I thought this event was a good chance to get to know other countries and cultures. If you have a chance to come to NZ, I would like to recommend this festival.

皆さん、こんにちは。私は、今ニュージーランドに学期留学している堀口紗良です。今日は、この間あったコスチュームデーについて紹介しようと思います。このイベントは、それぞれの国の伝統的な服を着て、その国の文化を他の国の人々に伝えるというイベントです。 私は日本の伝統的な衣装である浴衣を着て、このイベントに参加しました。 浴衣を着るのは私には難しく、特に帯を結ぶところが難しかったです。しかし、私は前日に浴衣を着るのを練習したので、着ることができました。

パレードの後は、お祭りのような催しに行きました。そこには各国の伝統的な食べ物がたくさんあり、私は ベトナム料理とサモア料理を食べました。 初めて食べたのですが、それはとても美味しかったです！ なぜならその味は私の好きな味だったからです。だから私はもう一度その料理を食べてみたいと思います。

また、私はさまざまな国からのダンスを見ることができました。 とてもユニークで面白かったです。 たとえば、ハワイアンダンス、サモアダンス、和太鼓。 和太鼓を観たとき、日本を思い出し、懐かしく思いました。 もし、ニュージーランドに行く機会があったらこのイベントを見ることをおすすめします。レポートを読んでくださりありがとうございました。
