Now as it is getting into deep autumn in Japan, bright summer is around the corner in New Zealand.  Hikaru, an exchange international student at New Plymouth GHS shares her updated report of incoming summer there!

Hello, there!  I am Hikaru Kito, an exchange student studying abroad at New Plymouth Girls High School in New Zealand.  It was Halloween the other day.　People in New Zealand do not have customs to celebrate Halloween.  However, like in Japan, some people celebrate Halloween and others don’t.

On the day of Halloween, I had girl guides.  So, we went to the park and we did a game.  It’s called Halloween Heist.  This game is like treasure hunt.  There is only one treasure hidden somewhere in the entire park . Also, there is only one genuine treasure, but there are some fake treasures.  We played with 3 teams and we lost, but it was fun.

It was nice weather this weekend.  It’s like summer. I did bike ride.  It made me feel so good because there are full of nature and the wind was comfortable.  Also, I had lunch with my friends at the beach.  We ate pizza, chips and milk shake.  New Zealand chips are so delicious.  When I ate New Zealand’s chips , I was so surprised that it was very delicious.  Whenever I ordered chips , I am always happy to see the chips being handed in a big piece of paper. If you have chance to come to New Zealand, you should give it a try!!

I could feel the summer of New Zealand this weekend.  I want to swim next time when I go to the beach.  Thank you for reading my report.  Have a good day!!

こんにちは。ニュージーランドのニュープリマス・ガールズ・ハイスクールに留学している鬼頭光です。ついこの間ハロウィンがありましたね！ニュージーランドには特にハロウィンを祝う習慣はないそうですが、日本と同じようにハロウィンの仮装をしたりする人もいれば、特に何もしない人もいるそうです。

私の方は、ハロウィンの日に、ガールガイズがありました。その日はみんなで公園に行ってゲームをしました。そのゲームの名前はHalloween Heistと言って宝探しのようなものです。公園全体のどこかにひとつだけ宝が隠してあります。この中には偽物の宝もいくつか紛れていました。私たちは3チームに分かれてプレイして、私たちのチームは負けてしまいましたがとても楽しかったです。

この週末はとてもいい天気で、まるで夏のようでした。私はサイクリングをしました。自然がたくさんあって、風も気持ち良くてとても良かったです。　また、お昼ご飯を友達とビーチで食べました。

私はピザとフライドポテトとミルクシェイクを食べました。ニュージーランドのフライドポテトは本当に美味しいです。初めて食べた時は美味しすぎてびっくりしました。フライドポテトを頼んで、大きな紙に包まれたフライドポテトを受け取るとき、毎回とても嬉しい気持ちになります。

ニュージーランドに来る機会がある方は是非食べてみてください！この週末はニュージーランドの夏を初めて感じられました。次にビーチに行くときには泳いでみたいです。
