From New York City – Special Report about Art and Education by Miwako Iga

A very special report came to us from New York City!  Now it is our great pleasure to deliver this “colorful” note to you, which is reported about one of the very creative “art and education” scenes in New York City by Ms. Miwako Iga, one of the Otsuma Nakano school faculty.  She has been staying there in New York City since the beginning of last April to make academic research on art as process of education as a research scholar belonging to City College of New York and she is supposed to be there by the end of the upcoming March, 2019.

This report about “art” for educational context will showcase Otsuma Nakano educational values very well, which is our educational focus on “Active Arts.”

The following is her introduction note:

Spring, summer, and fall have passed by so fast in New York.  The first snow of the season hit New York City in the middle of November.  I have been busy observing classes at college and schools, and taking part in educational workshops for teachers. I have been learning a lot from Interactive Classroom Activities. The other day before, I made a presentation about Japanese design and culture at High School of Fashion Industries in Manhattan.

Please find more about my research to take a look at the following:
