From Australia_Exchange Report on St. Andrew’s CC_180422

From Australia_Sui Hirayama

Once again it is our great pleasure to introduce St. Andrew's Catholic College in Cairns, Australia as our sister school. Now, our new exchange students have kicked off their term 2 integration with  St. Andrew's students there.  Sui Hirayama, one of the term 2 exchange students reports her first days there at St. Andrew's.

G'day mates!! I'm Sui Hirayama, a current exchange student studying at St Andrew's Catholic College. One week has past since I arrived in Cairns, Australia. In this report I would like to write about my life here in Cairns.

As Cairns is in the southern hemisphere, the season is changing to autumn. It is the opposite from Japan. But the tropical weather makes it very hot. When I left Japan, the temperature there was about 20℃, but Cairns is about 27℃ and the sun's rays is very strong. When you are comming to Cairns, you should bring your sun screen so that you don't get sun burnt!

Now I would like to talk about my school life at St Andrew's Catholic College.

Firstly, St Andrew's is a catholic (Christian) school. We begin the day with morning pray in our home room time. Because Otsuma Nakano is not a religious school, we don't have any time to pray, so it is very interesting for me to have this reflection time.

Secondly, there are many subjects available to students that we are not able to study at Otsuma Nakano. I am now studying religion, photography, accounting, and a trivia class, which we can't take in Otsuma Nakano. Accounting is a class where we can learn how to make new businesses and management of money which you borrow from the bank.  In religon we are now studying about racical discrimination that indigenous Australians experienced. During this class we learn about religion but also we can learn moral things. These are both interesting because they are subjects which we can't take while studying at Otsuma Nakano.

The attached photos are of the view which I can see from my house, my time table and my school.

Thank you for reading my report.  See you soon!!
