From New Zealand-Study at New Plymouth & Sacred Heart#02

The second day in New Plymouth.

We started the first-week program.

For the first 5 days, we have ESOL classes with Teffrey.

As she has experience of having taught English in

Otsuma-Nakano, the students got naturally involved in

her class.

After lunch, we separated into a New Plymouth Girls’

High team and a Sacred Heart Girls’ College one. Then

we visited each school and met the buddies for the first

time. In both schools, we had a warm welcome and,

thanks to the teachers in charge, this first visit is perfectly

organized. All the buddies are so nice and friendly that

we could get in good terms easily and enjoyed the school

tour.

The last program of the day was to meet Wako, who is

also an Otsuma-Nakano student and now here in New

Plymouth Girls’ High studying for one year. She kindly

sparing her time for us and gave good advice for us to make

our 2-week program fruitful.

長い移動から一夜明けて、今日から授業が始まりした。

日本を離れて、初めてあったホストファミリーと、初めての

家で過ごした翌日は、ぐっすり眠っていても少し眠そうに

授業にくる生徒もいました。

1週目はTeffrey 先生を午前中に受けます。授業が始まると

皆熱心に授業に参加。

最後には、今日の放課後にホストファミリーと過ごすための

宿題も出ます。

午後は、New Plymouth Girls’ High School とSacred Heart に

別れてバディと初めて会いました。

その後、校内を案内してもらい、後半のプログラムのイメージを

つかみました。

最後に、New Plymouth G.H.S.に再集合して、大妻中野から

１年間留学中の先輩から話をしてもらいました。

バディの子の英語の速さに戸惑った生徒もいたようですが、

先輩のアドバイスや経験談に勇気をもらった一日でもあり

ました。
