スペシャルゲストをお迎えして Receiving a Special Guest

４月ももう、中旬だというのに冷たい雨が降りしきる中、

妻中を素敵なゲストが訪ねてきてくださいました！

本校のグローバル教育海外パートナー校として連携を

進めている、アメリカ東部・コネティカット州にある私立

女子大学・セントジョセフ大学からのスペシャルゲストです。

学長であるパメラ・レイド博士、御主人のアーヴィン・レイド教授、

そしてジョナサン・ゴーレイ教授。

朗らかで優しいお三方を、まず妻中の茶室「和悦庵」にて

季節の和菓子とお抹茶でおもてなし。

それから、ダンス部の高校２年生・１年生、中学３年生が

日頃の練習の成果をご披露します。

さらに、合唱部からは「Let it go」「Under the sea」、ディズニー

おなじみの２曲を全部員で大合唱。

通訳兼コンダクターを担当してくれたのは、それぞれの部活に

在籍する帰国生たち。

日々のクラブ活動の様子や歓迎のメッセージについて、

心を込めてお伝えしてくれました！

７月には、セントジョセフ大学での短期留学に挑戦するため、

今度は妻中生がアメリカを訪れます。

海を隔てた２つの女子校が、文化交流で手を取り合い、

ますます親交を深めていく未来に向けて、今日が記念すべき

始まりの日になりました。

On a gloomy rainy day of April, we received three wonderful guests from USA at our school:

Dr. Pamela T. Reid, President of University of St.Joseph, her husband Dr. Irvin D. Reid, President of Wayne State University,and Jonathan Gourlay, ESL Director of University of St.Joseph. 

University of St.Joseph and Otsumanakano started a strong relationship two years ago.

Since then, each school has sent its staff members and students to the other school.

This time the President Dr. Pamela T. Reid herself was our guest of honour.

They first visited our tea ceremony room "Waetu-an" where they were served green tea "Maccha" 

in the traditional style of tea ceremony.  They said they really liked "Maccha" and some sweets served together with it.

Then, they enjoyed the superb performance of our dance club; some thirty young girls entertained the guests with wonderful dancing.

Finally, the guests met our chorus club, which is wellknown nation-wide as Number One Choir of Japan.

The chorus club members welcomed the guests by singing the Disney song "Let it go" and so on.

They looked so emotionally moved that they could have no words after a while.

During the visitation tour, Otsumanakano's returnee students guided the  visitors and interpreted between the guests and Japanese staff.

They did an excellent job!  

Soon we will start a new exchange program. 

Otsumanakano's students will visit St.Joseph this coming July.
