法政大学グローバル教養学部GISゼミ授業を体験！

本校の文部科学省WWL（ワールド・ワイド・ラーニング）事業の協働校であり、高大連携協定を締結している法政大学グローバル教養学部（GIS）にて、大学ゼミ授業体験プログラムを11月10日に実施しました。参加したのは、中学3年生、高校1年生、高校2年生の計22名です。

法政大学GISはすべての授業を英語で行うリベラルアーツ学部で、人文・社会科学・ビジネスなど多様な領域を横断して学び、国際社会で活躍する人材を育成しています。本校の卒業生も多数進学し、英語力と主体的な学びへのマインドとスキルを強みとして、GISの多様な学生と一緒に活躍しています。

今回のプログラムでは、これまでの本校に「大学の先生においでいただく特別授業」ではなく、生徒が市ヶ谷キャンパスを訪問し、GISの大学生と同じ教室で学ぶという、大学の空気まで体感できる形で実施されました。

担当は Dr. John Melvin 先生。テーマは “Workshop on Niche Tourism” で、特に LGBTQ+ と観光の関係性を切り口に、多様性・文化・政治・経済・心理などを総合的に結びつけ、新たなビジネスや視点を創出するリベラルアーツ的思考を学びました。

生徒たちはGISの大学生受講生と協働しながら英語で意見を交わし、普段の中高の授業では体験できない「大学のゼミならではの対話的な学び」の迫力を実感しました。また、観光業におけるLGBTQ+への配慮や国による価値観の違いを議論する中で、多角的に物事を捉える重要性や、異なる背景を持つ他者の意見を取り入れる姿勢の大切さを体感したとの声が多く寄せられました。

さらに大学生との交流を通じて、IELTSの学習法や大学での学び方を聞く機会にも恵まれ、「今後英語で学ぶことへのイメージが具体化した」「将来どんな環境で学びたいか考えるきっかけになった」といった感想が見られました。

Nさん　－ 英語で議論する大学授業の自由さを体感

人権や多様性について学ぶ機会が増える中、LGBTQ+の権利を英語で学べる点に魅力を感じ参加しました。GISの学生とのディスカッションは緊張しましたが、優しくサポートしてくださり、英語で意見を伝える経験が大きな自信につながりました。大学さながらの議論の深さに触れ、「自分がどんな環境で学びたいか」を考えるきっかけになりました。

Sさん　－ 多様な価値観に触れ、学びは対話によって深まることを実感

以前から少人数ゼミの学び方に関心があり、実際のGIS授業を体験したいと参加しました。授業では大学生が丁寧に質問に答えてくれ、課題へのフィードバックも対話的で温かく、学びが双方向で進むことを実感しました。また、観光とLGBTQ+を結びつけたテーマは新鮮で、身近な題材から社会課題を立体的に考える視点が身につきました。

英語の大学授業に興味があり参加しました。最初は英語力に不安がありましたが、学生の皆さんの支えで積極的に参加できました。観光業とLGBTQ+の関係を学ぶ中で、国による文化的背景の差を理解し、日本における包摂的な観光のあり方について深く考えるようになりました。授業後には受験やIELTS学習のアドバイスもいただき、将来の学びへの意欲が高まりました。

  I have always been very interested in Hosei University, and when I saw the opportunity to join this program, I immediately decided to apply because I had wanted to visit the campus for a long time. I would like to use English in my future career, so I think this program will be a great chance to experience real university classes taught in English. I am also looking forward to communicating with other high school and university students who have similar goals. Through discussions and activities, I hope to broaden my perspective, improve my English skills, and gain a clearer idea of what kind of job I want to do in the future. I believe this experience at Hosei University will motivate me to study harder and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams. 

In the GIS class, we mainly learned about tourism and LGBTQ issues. Through repeated discussions and presentations, I was able to encounter different perspectives and values, and I realized the importance of accepting others’ opinions and reflecting on them in my own thinking. I also learned that the familiar topic of tourism is deeply connected to diversity and social issues related to LGBTQ people, which greatly broadened my view of the world. Through this class, I feel that I was able to open many new “doors” of interest and ideas that had been hidden inside me. From now on, I want to make use of what I learned to understand society and people from more diverse perspectives.

  The theme of LGBTQ, which is the focus this time, was something I had developed a slight interest in through inquiry-based activities at school. I decided to participate because I thought discussing it with university students might allow me to gain new perspectives and knowledge.

  This theme on gender and the tourism industry was truly innovative, and I gained a great deal of insight. Through the lectures, I realized how vastly different perceptions of LGBTQ individuals are around the world, gaining a deeper appreciation for cultural and value differences. I intend to apply what I learned here to my own research activities. Furthermore, as a nation aiming for globalization, Japan must transcend cultural and value barriers to understand diversity and show consideration for LGBTQ individuals. Therefore, I believe it is crucial for me personally to deepen my knowledge and cultivate a broader perspective to help build a society that embraces diversity through tourism.
