中３平和学習（３日目） 05.11 Sat
Today the students woke up excited to go to Miyajima Island and expecting beautiful weather! After a good breakfast we set off to the ferry port, and arrived there in good time. Spirits were high on the ferry ride over, and we all enjoyed a sea breeze and the lovely fresh air around the Seto sea. There were a few deer waiting for us on the island, and we saw many more as toured some of the sights, including of course the famous red torii, which is a UNESCO world heritage sight. We also saw the pagodas, shrines, boardwalks, and enjoyed much of the traditional architecture and old-town feel of Miyajima, which is so different to our usual Toyko environment. Lunch was hungrily accepted, and then the students were lucky enough to have a free afternoon to explore the island, buy some souvenirs, and enjoy the sunny beach. After two days of serious reflection and historical learning, it was a happy change of pace to conclude our trip. Many many many Momiji Manju were bought, many deer were stroked, and many sun-tanned happy sleepy faces filled our coaches for the ride to the airport. Both teachers and students have a had terrific, memorable trip, and have gained a deeper understanding of all the Hiroshima has to teach us.
