From America_Study at University of Saint Joseph_10

A very quiet and peaceful Sunday was here at the campus of USJ.    The weather was perfect with a lovely cool summer breeze.   The landmark of USJ, McDonough Hall was shining against the clear blue sky in the day time and in the evening its view is also magnificent.

Today Sunday, we have been relaxed all day long enjoying each own holiday in spending time with their language partners.  It was a day for recovery from much excitement of New York City yesterday.  In the evening, we all joined a cookout BBQ at the house of one of the liaison students experience “Real American House with Real American Food.” 

All of then took a couple of taxies to her house with both relaxed and excited.  About 15 minutes’ ride took them to her hours.  Her father and mother welcomed all of us with super generous smiles. Going into the backyard, they had fun playing games, badminton and talking with chips and cold drinks to wait for BBQ dinner ready. 

Cookout is her father’s important job. The great smell of grilling meat and sausages made us super hungry.  Now dinner is ready!  All of them rushes to the table in the garden to enjoy meat, sausages, salad, and so many stuff to eat.  Cookout in this beautiful nature with perfect weather gave all of us happiness. This is the real America.  All of us ate one’s fill and enjoyed ourselves to the full.

気持ちのよいキリッと晴れた爽やかな日曜日。セント・ジョセフ大学のキャンパスは静かです。ランドマークのマクドノー・ホールの尖塔がまぶしく光ります。夕方からは、ライトアップされ威厳のある姿を見せてくれます。

今日は日曜日。のんびりとランゲージパートナーとそれぞれの時間を過ごしました。昨日のニューヨークの興奮から、落ち着いてリラックスするのには十分な時間です。夕方からは、パートナーの一人のUSJの学生の家に皆で行って、バーベキューです。これぞ、本当のアメリカの生活、アメリカの食べ物を体験します。

2台のタクシーに分乗して、彼女の家に。15分くらいで郊外にある彼女の家に到着しました。お父さんとお母さんが大きな笑顔で迎えてくれます。広い裏庭でバーベキュー。ディナーができるまで、皆でゲームをしたり、バドミントンをしたり。チップスと飲み物で楽しいときを過ごしました。

野外での肉を焼くのはお父さんの大切な仕事です。肉やソーセージが焼けるいい匂いが食欲をそそります。さあ、できました！皆、庭に置かれたテーブルで思い思いに自分で食べるものをとります。美しい自然の中で、完璧な気持ちのよい天気の下で、楽しむバーベキュー。本当にリラックスした幸せな気持ちになります。これが本当のアメリカ。皆、心ゆくまで楽しみました。
