The life in England – Report 2 –
Hello everyone, I am Yuri Nishigami, an exchange student from Otsuma Nakano enrolling at the Archbishop’s School in Canterbury, UK. This is my 2nd report to share my experience of staying in England with you all.
Today, I'll talk about winter snow in England. This week England had a lot of snow, which finally made my school closed and classes canceled from Tuesday to Friday. Fortunately, I was able to get unexpected lovely holidays during this week. Snow covered all of the Kent. It was amazingly beautiful.
I went to the park near my host family's house and made a big snowman. It was my first time to make a really big one like this, and also we went to a hill and played with sledge, snow fight, and snow angel. What’s more, I also went to the town with my friends. The town were all covered with snow and we did not see many people around. It was extremely silent and beautiful. It made me feel as if I got in the world of Christmas. My host family told me that a lot of snow like this in Canterbury was unusual, so I could get a very precious experience. I’m so lucky.
Last weekend I went to the Ashford outlet. Ashford outlet is not like Japan's outlet. Many shops are open under their tents like circus. I asked an woman at the information centre like this:
“Why do these stores have a lot of tents?”
Then she answered my question as follows:
“Because England had a lot of rain and these tents protect our shops.”
I learned from her that England's rain has great effect on any place in England. There are many shops under the tent and I bought a pretty purse with cheap price there. I really love it.
I can realize that the weather in England changes a lot and it rains a lot, which influences the way of their life in England. It is very interesting to me.
Thanks a lot, everyone, for reading my report. See you again soon.
