Canada Study Tour⑦（中2カナダ体験学習）

What makes our students so fine? The weather of Canada?

The atmosphere of UBC? Or many activities of this program they

are sharing with their buddies? Anyway, things are getting better.

In the ESL classes this morning we could easily see them getting

used to the way their teachers teach. They are also getting familiar

with more and more buddies, for the buddies in charge of them

changes day by day.

In the afternoon we tried and made “Dream Catcher,” which is

from First Nation. Using a wooden ring, a string and some beads,

our students and buddies made an accessory. As some buddies didn't

know how to make it, they helped each other and made it up..

In the evening, we spent our time reporting the results of Scavenger

Hunting activity last night. Each student came up and make a short

presentation in front of us all. We had a good time sharing what 

the friends in other groups had done with their buddies. 

UBCへの移動も無事に終え、これからは大学の寮を中心にESLの授業と

バディを交えたアクティビティとなります。生徒たちも自分たちの生活に慣れ始め、

朝も自分たちで起き当たり前のように食事に向かっていました。

午前中は昨日と同様にESLの授業。前日の授業で宿題を出された生徒もおり、

昨日の夜は消灯時も英語ばかりのファイルとにらめっこしていました。

（間に合ったのでしょうか…？）

今日のトピックはFirst Nationsです。午後に予定されているDreamCatcher 作りを

前に、カナダの先住民についての事前学習を絡めた授業でした。

先住民の写真を見ての描写表現。先生方の質問に積極的に答えたり、わからない

単語や言いたい言葉を電子辞書で調べたりする姿も印象的でした。

午前中のブレイクや集合の待ち時間では、仲良くなったバディ達と写真撮影を

きっかけに会話をする姿が目立ちます。昨日の通訳の方も、「英語はもはや

世界共通語として使われており、NativeSpeakerにも、もはや完璧な英語を期待

できない時代です。ですから、まちがいを気にしないで！」とおっしゃっていました。

そのようなアドバイスが生徒たちの背中を押しているのかもしれません。

午後はバディ達と一緒にDream Catcher作り体験。ここではバディも混乱！

生徒たちと一緒に苦戦しながらなんとか完成させました。

いい夢が見られますように。

夕食をはさんで同じ会場に戻って行う夜のアクテビティは、昨日のScavenger untingの発表会。

短い英語ではありますが、全員が原稿を用意して、みんなの前で発表しました。

「何か質問は。。。」の問いかけに、「彼女（彼氏）はいますか？」と、全員のバディに

聞いて回る生徒も登場！

そして、今日の最後は、、、

今回の旅行中に誕生日を迎える３人の生徒にバディからサプライズ!

みんなでHappy Birthday!!を合唱して終わりました、
