From New Zealand, Report on New Plymouth Girls’ High School, June 19th – Shino Koyama

Now Term 2 of New Plymouth Girls’ High School is also getting close to the end, which means that the day for the exchange students from Otsuma Nakano to go back to Japan will be near.  We are very proud to introduce you the updated report by Shino Koyama, who is now enrolling in New Plymouth Girls’ High School as an exchange student.

Hi, there!  About 50 days have passed since I came here. It has been so fun and every single day is a great experience for me. I will have to leave here in about 25 days.  But I hope my New Zealand life will be really good one.  Now, I would like to report on my recent days in New Zealand from now on.

On Monday, it was Queen's Birthday, so I didn't have to go to school. So I went to PUKEKURA Park with my host family. I went to the zoo in that park as well. The zoo is not so big, but I couldn't see a lot of animals.  But I could see animals so close.  The zoo was free, so I didn't have to pay money. I was surprised to hear that because we have to pay some when we go to most Japanese zoos.

On Tuesday, I went to Spotswood to play badminton with Ayaka and Naoka. We do badminton on Mondays after school at the school stadium.  We wanted to do it more, so we decided to do it on Tuesday too. We joined a junior and senior class. We did some matches on doubles. There were some children in our junior class. The senior class was so hard because there were a lot of good players!  They looked so cool!  I definitely want to be like them.

On Saturday morning, I went to my friend's house with my host family. I talked with my friend and watched a movie. It was fun!  On the way back home, we saw some horses. They were eating grass. So my host sisters tried to feed them.  But the distance was too far to do that, so they couldn't. They seemed sad…

From Saturday night to Sunday, I slept over at the hostel with Ayaka. We talked a lot of things at night and we ate a lot of things at dinner. It was really fun and I had a great time.  We went to Centre city on Saturday. We saw a lot of shops. Also we ate sweets at Yoget!  At the shop we can choose our favorite flavor soft cream and topping on the soft cream and we pay money by the sweets weight. It was so delicious. But the weather changed while we were hanging out and it started to rain… So we ran a lot while we were hanging out.  It was a little hard but it was good exercise for us. I want to go there again.  When you come to New Plymouth, I would recommend this shop!!

I really enjoyed this week!  I have only three weeks more.  So I would like to enjoy NZ life with my awesome friends!!

Thanks for reading my report!

Regards,

Shino,
